Description: Unbelievable find ! This is a vintage Ball Ideal Blue Pint Size Canning Jar with Glass Wire Bail Lid from July 14, 1908. Item is in excellent condition. No cracks, chips or nicks. Rubber seal is intact and the wire bail closing mechanism is in great working condition. The phrase "PAT'D July 14, 1908" is stamped on the jar, indicating the patent date for the particular fastening location of the jar's wire locking lever. The "Ideal" design was discontinued in 1962. Blue Mason jars are sought after because the specific shade of blue was believed to extend the life of canned food by blocking sunlight. A great piece of American Heritage and ideal for collectors!
