ARSENAL DE ARTILLERIA DE MARINA DE ZARATE (ZARATE NAVY ARTILLERY ARSENAL)CIRCA '60s The couteau for cadets of the NCO's academy of the Prefectura Naval Argentina (Argentine Coast Guard) is from the late '60s, it has no maker's markings, but by the type of violet blueing on the scabbard I believe that it was made by A.A.M.Z. Mirror polished carbon steel dagger type blade, double straight edge.The bronze cross-guard presents inverted quillions in its orientation, the inferior one to the front and the superior one to the back. It has two bronze rain-guards, the left one has the Liberty, and the right one that has two crossed anchors, the crest of Prefectura Naval Argentina.The ferrule and the back-strap are made of bronze, between the cross-guard and the ferrule there is a black plastic washer and the grip is made of white plastic with grooves.The back-strap ends in the pommel with an eagle's head that holds the tassel ring in its beak.The grip is attached to the rat-tail tang with a hollow screw that screws and presses the whole. The scabbard is metallic, blued, with violet reflections, in the middle it has a brass band that holds the lower ring and a brass mouthpiece with the upper ring. Two screws secure both parts to the scabbard.
