Description: Up for sale is this extremely rare Antique Vienna Carriage Clock by Jacob Degen of Wien as marked on the Movement. The dial is marked for G. Goering of Wien, possibly the retailer. With Case and keys, no way to know for sure if they are original, but they look right. Jacob Degen lived from the 1760s to the late 1840’s, there is very little information on his clock making. However his design of the Flugsmaschine or Ornithopter, a man powered flight machine in 1809 is well documented. The clock is not working and is sold for parts or repair. I had a hard time getting the back panel and one of the side panels back together, wouldn’t be surprised if they popped out in transit, basically they are held in place by pressure. This should be viewed as a full on restoration project, assume nothing is working and if you don’t see a part assume it is missing. Case shows considerable wear, soiling and scratches, dial has some chips, lines and loss. Clock finish shows wear and soiling. Clock measures about 5” tall with handle up, 3 1/4” across, 2” deep.
