Description: Antique Sterling Silver Engraved Belt Buckle GLPCO George L Paine & Co Mono GWJ For consideration is this antique sterling silver belt buckle made by GLPCO or George L. Pain & Company. GLP & Co., founded in 1909 in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, USA, and was last known in business in 1922. This belt buckle is nicely engraved with flowers and leaves along the top, left side and bottom. The remaining area has a straight line to complete the border. In the top left corner the buckle has the monogram “GWJ” in an oval circle. The background of the rest of the buckle has is rows of straight horizontal lines alternating – a 3 line grouping and a 6 line grouping pattern. This belt buckle measures 1 5/8 inches long and 1 1/8 inches tall. I did not include the back loop in these measurements. The back of the buckle is engraved “Sterling GLPCO” and it weighs 14.73 grams. It is in good antique condition although lovingly previously worn and a lot of scratches can be seen with and without a magnifying glass. It was cleaned with Simichrome Polish.
