Description: Large Antique Hand Carved Sandalwood Box / Casket With Double Hinged Lid And A Lock - Probably Made Around 1880 TO 1920REDUCED FROM £1200 TO £ 695/=. This large Antique hand carved box / casket is constructed from a real solid sandalwood. It has a lovely tantalizing sandalwood aroma. All sides are extravagantly heavily hand carved, except the bottom surface which is plain and smooth. (Please see the images).The box has a exquisitely heavily hand carved pattern of floral, foliage, birds and animals. (Please see the photos).The lid is very nice fit (butt fit) to the box. The lid is attached to the box with lovely dual brass hinges with built in end stops. The box has a brass lock but the key is missing. Any reputable locksmith can sort out the key issue if need be. It is a large size box. The outer dimensions of the box measures approximately Width 12'' x Depth 5" x Hight 2.5''.This preowned box is in good condition considering the age.
