Description: Condition: The well of the saucer has minor wear to the gilding. This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in France around 1810. There are no markings on either of the pieces. It could have been made by one of the numerous porcelain manufacturers in the Paris vicinity at that period. The saucer has a diameter of 5 inches and the cup is 3 3/8 inches high, excluding the handle. The porcelain is heavy and substantial. The decoration is hand painted. Stylized ornaments, including a cornucopia and swans, decorate the sides of the cup. The central decoration on the cup is a gilded medallion of a lion encircled in a laurel wreath. The gilding is finely etched. The saucer has hand painted instruments and trophy objects. Three quarters of the interior of the cup is gilded. The handle and the rims are trimmed with bright gilding.
