Description: Item DetailsFine Antique French Regulator Mantel Clock, Circa 1870 Offers Welcome A beautiful, fine and large antique French mantel regulator clock comprising of ormolu, bronze, crystal and marble, dating to the 19th century, circa 1870. The clock, of rectangular form comprises of an enamel and ormolu dial to the front elevation featuring black hand painted Arabic numerals with outer chapter indicating minute marks. The slender ormolu frame encasing four bevelled glass panels allowing the user view the mechanism from each side.The front and rear hinged panels can be opened via the ormolu knobs allowing the user alter the time, wind the mechanism and adjust the pendulum. The whole raised on a stepped ormolu base. This fine clock features an 8 day twin train mechanical movement striking the hours and half on a gong. The pieces comes complete with pendulum and winding key. Approximate dimensions: Clock: 30 cm high x 18 cm wide Approximate weight: 6.5 KG Condition: Overall, the clock is in good working condition and the ormolu retains a very bright colour. There are some small signs of age and usage. The mechanism has recently been cleaned and serviced.
