Description: This charming Black Forest Bear is hand carved from one piece of wood. The head is hinged to open and reveal a well that hold the original glass insert for the ink. The hinge is in good working order and the glass undamaged but slightly rough around the rim. The bear's eyes are black glass beads, both original. The entire surface of the bear is covered with carefully carved fur and the bear's mouth has tiny carved teeth. The two paws of the bear also have tiny carved claws that are all present. You will notice, if you are comparing this style of inkwell, that many of the bears have red mouths. This bear does not. This is older and everything about it is exactly as it was originally made. The only issue I have found is on the bottom of the bear. There is a black stain where ink would have run out of the bottle and stained the wood black. It has a beautiful smooth and glossy from years of being handled. An excellent addition to any Black Forest collection or a collection bears. 3" tall x 2" wide x 2.75" deep the glass insert is 1.25" high
