An exceptional quality reverse painted intaglio cut glass also known as Essex Crystal or Glass pin. The stock tie pin is constructed out of yellow and white gold. Long base in Yellow gold is in the form of a stirrup strap with white gold buckles. The Essex crystal is flanked by two white gold horse shoes. The center of the crystal features an English Hunt Rider in Red coat Dress jumping over the fence. Beautifully done with high raised relief painting. Nice intricate detail and design. High quality workmanship from a highly reputable and collectable maker. Perfect for the well appointed rider. This beautiful antique pin is still in it's original retail box marked "Grogan Company" Jewelers & Silversmiths Wood St & Sixth Ave, Pittsburgh. The hinged locking pin clasp is marked 14K for gold content along with the Sloan & Co. makers mark. The pin is a nice size measuring 2" long by 1/2" wide across Essex glass dome. The pin weighs 4.4 grams. The pin is in excellent condition. The glass area is chip and crack free. Pin stem shows a slight bend but is not affecting its stability or wearability. Perfect for any horse enthusiast!
