Description: These are a pair of 1969 Mfg Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5000C baitcasting reel - black in color. Other than the limited edition 5000 Deluxe, the 5000C was the first regular production dual ball bearing baitcaster that Abu Garcia produced for mass sale. The 5000C series started in 1966 with serial #10000 and was built with the 4 screw frame until mid 1968 and approximate serial number 37XXX. With serial numbers 47605 and 47511,not only are these units just 94 reels apart, these are some of the earlier production (1969?) 5000C reels to have the new 3 screw frame. These reels are in fine working condition with all features including star drag, spool release, and level wind fully functional. Bearings are a bit rough due to age and might improve with some oil. Cosmetically, the reels have the typical boat rash one would expect to see in an older used Ambassadeur reels with scratches on the anodized side plates, Chrome is in good shape and free of any noticible corrosion. Abu Garcia handles are from later versions of the 5000C. Please examine photos closely as they are part of the product description.
