Description: Description and Condition: From an old Montana estate, this pair of swirl and Russian pattern candlesticks are much sought after by collectors of American brilliant period glass. These are in perfect original condition -- I could find no issues. They are cut on heavy, water white blown blanks and are finished entirely with hand polishing. They are 10.5 inches tall, and the bases are 5.25 inches diameter. Probably made by Hoare, ca.1890-95, and unsigned as was much of the firm's glass from that early period. Hoare made some really fine early patterns using the swirl. This pattern came in two versions: the listed one here; and the other with Russian cut on the tops. Note: This pair is exceptionally brilliant! Much more so than other examples I have seen over the years. An example of this candlestick is shown in Pearson's Encyclopedia of American Cut Glass, Vol. I, page 118. Also please forgive some areas around the candle cups where I overlooked removing some candle wax from the fitters. These appear like flat dull areas when photos are magnified. The wax is easily removed. Payment, Returns and Shipping Policies: Absolutely no e-checks will be accepted!! I will accept a return as per ebay's 14-day return policy. However, buyer's remorse or bid by mistake will not be accepted as a valid reason for a return. Buyer pays for return shipping and insurance and upon receipt in the same condition as sent I will refund in the amount of the winning bid.If you have any questions please feel free to ask me using the ebay message system. I will gladly do my best to provide you with any needed information, including more photos. I want you to feel confident in your bidding! Happy, satisfied customers are my goal. Domestic shipping with full insurance for all domestic buyers will be a FLAT RATE by insured USPS priority mail. These are heavy and will require oversize packaging so don't be surprised at the shipping cost -- sorry but I am not Amazon! Final Comment: A real plus for any collection! Reasonable offers will be considered, but I don't have much room to negotiate on these. Please check out my other listings: antique shades, pottery and porcelains, ABP cut glass, antique art glass, bronze and pottery. Also see many fine auction catalogs of Russian art and other books. And take a look at the rare Andres collotype of the Courier and Ives 19th Century color lithograph of the baseball game at the Elysian Fields.
