Description: “ Sedum confusum” Sedum confusum (Hemsley): A branching stemmed grower with glossy yellow-green leaves from the Sierra Nevada mountains that is semi-hardy. In the wild it grows as a bushy subshrub up to 2.0' tall but in the garden it makes a colorful ground cover or "spiller" from containers. This variety will not tolerate being walked on but it is perfect for waterwise or fire-resistant landscaping. They produce open, yellow flowers each year and can get a pink tinge at their leaf edges when grown in full sun. Soft Sedum need bright sunlight to maintain their colors and full leaf coverage. This species will not survive long periods below 10F or repeated freeze thaw cycles, but it can overwinter indoors on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. Bring it back outdoors in the spring to ensure that it has enough sunlight during its growing season. Like most succulents, they need great drainage and deep, infrequent water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 50% to 70% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Water deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole, then wait for the soil to fully dry before watering again.
