Description: You are bidding on a pair of antique American Optical (AO) Ful-Vue 12 GF gold wire rim eyeglasses. Ornately etched frame. Both temples and bridge marked 1/10 12K GF. Eyeglass case is original and antique - made of metal with a felt lining. Eyeglasses and case are estimated to be from the 1920's to the early 30's. FUL-VUE HISTORY: When automobiles became popular in the early 1900’s, people wanted clear vision when looking to the sides while driving. With traditional oval or round glasses of that time, the temples generally met the frames midway of the lenses so when a person looked out of the side of the lenses the temples directly blocked their line of vision. American Optical solved this problem by moving the temples to the top of the frames clearing the driver's line of vision when looking to the side creating Ful-Vue eyeglasses! American Optical's eyeglasses are the original Ful-Vue. MEASUREMENTS (approximate):Frame length: 108 mm (front of frame measured at the widest point);Bridge: 18 mm (from top indentation to other indentation);Lens width: 38 mm (measured across at widest part, inside rim);Lens height: 36 mm (measured up and down at widest part, inside rim);Temple length: 155 mm (full length to hinge);Temple length: 105 mm (length from hinge to behind ear approx.) **Color variations may occur, depending on your monitor or device. The eyeglasses are in good preloved antique condition. Normal wear as expected. Frame is in great condition. Temples open too wide - need adjustment and tightening. Prescription lenses have fine scratches all over and a couple of chips in the glass - prescription is on the weaker side. Nose pads are original but the coating is coming off of the gold filled metal. Felt inside antique eyeglass case is disintegrating. Please see all pics above and use the zoom liberally.
