Description: 1963 Press Photo Engineer Bob Banning carries blueprints to expressway This is an original press photo. Off to work, engineer Bob Banning lugs blueprints for ramp construction on the long-awaited south leg of the North-South Expressway. Construction began Monday, bringing with it the inevitable traffic jam as rush-hour traffic backed up for blocks near U.S. 1 and SW 32nd Road. The road builders have narrowed the four-land highway to two lanes at the intersection, where the big ramp is to be built. Most of the work will be completed in about 90 days, they say. An engineer, Robert Banning, with the blueprints for the new interchange at 31st Road and South Dixie Highway.
