Description: Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Champ in excellent condition, recently serviced and very original. Simple and elegant, this vintage Champ boasts the hallowed 5F1 circuit. It doesn't get much more pure than the Champ, and this studio favorite delivers dynamic and glassy tube tone that can go from clean to fully saturated overdrive with a twist of the single knob. The circuit features the original Schumacher-made output transformers which dates to the 35th week of 62, while the power transformer is a vintage Schumacher replacement with a correct Fender part number (125P1B) and a date code from 1969 (likely a factory replacement). The singular Stackpole pot dates to the 15th week of 62. The preamp retains the original blue Ajax capacitors, and and the power supply has been professionally recapped. The power cable has also been upgraded to a modern three-prong. The chassis itself boasts a clean chrome-plated control plate with the majority of the original white silkscreen lettering. The tube set consists of a Sovtek 5Y3 rectifier, a vintage General Electric 6V6 power tube, and a modern JJ preamp tube. The original alnico magnet 8 Oxford E8V speaker has a clean frame, even retaining the stock orange inspection sticker. The stamp on the edge of the alnico magnet is from the 25th week of 61. The tube chart is fully intact as well, noting the 5F1 circuit and stamped with an LJ code that translates to October of 1962. The original lacquered tweed shows moderate ambering, with only some minor scuffs and corner wear. The original leather handle is intact, as is the oxblood/gold stripe grillcloth, and both back panels are present, with a previous owner adding their name and ID number to the upper panel.
