He hit 11 home runs, the last time he would reach double digits in his career, and drove in 101 runs, the last time he would reach triple digits in his career. His production was good for sixth place MVP votes behind winner Hank Sauer, Robin Roberts, Joe Black, Hoyt Wilhelm, and teammate Stan Musial.
