Description: This is for 8 issues from 1907 of the periodical call "The Imprint" printed by the American Bank Note Co. with a total of about 130 pages for all 8 issues. A rare and unusual printing. The 8 Issues are bound in a leather binding and was the personal copy belonging to Charles Lee who was the Treasurer for the ABNCo in the early 1900's for over 20 years - with his name on the front cover. The Imprint was designated as a house trade periodical published by the American Bank Note Company. From the content of the magazine, its purpose was seemingly to lure prospective clients and promote the company's expertise in various printing processes. It is illustrated primarily by staff artists and includes some of the company's jobbing work. This includes advertising for the White Star Line and various railways, calendars, banking stationery, bonds, travel ephemera, calendars, and menus. One of its purposes was also to promote its Trinity lithographic printing process. The Trinity name was a play on the company's location at 78-86 Trinity Place in New York as well as it being a 3-color (plus black) printing process. The process could produce detailed color lithographic art in a variety of colors and could reproduce non-primary colors much better than was generally available, especially when compared to color lithographic posters and advertising at the time. Examples of the Trinity Process are shown in the artwork in the issues - Note that neither image contains primary colors. Each issue measures approximately 6½" W × 9½" H and contains both black-and-white and color lithographic images. Lot of examples of vignettes and their history in engraving. Great "book" in very nice, clean condition. No marks on pages, strong binding with the exception of the cracked leather. No hard creases.
