Artist and filmmaker Andy Warhol poses for a portrait with several of his most notable 'Warhol Superstars' in 1966 in his studio, The Factory (famously known as the Silver Factory), at 231 East 47th Street in New York City, New York. The studio was called the Silver Factory because the walls were lined in Reynolds Wrap aluminum silver foil. Around this time, Warhol had completed his most famous film, Chelsea Girls (1966), featuring Velvet Underground singer and chanteuse Nico (Christa Päffgen) and dozens of artists, actors, and his celebrated 'Superstars', Warhol's entourage that 'hung out' at The Factory. Posing with Warhol are Billy Name, actress and writer Viva Hoffman, actress and artist Ultra Violet (Isabelle Collin Dufresne) and actor Taylor Mead. These prints come from our private collection of previously unpublished, original rock negatives, 35mm slides and transparencies and are suitable for framing.
