1/700 USS Henley DD-391 Early WWII Outfit MidShip Models #703 Factory Seal MISB

Description: I would like to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. The USS Henley was one of eight Bagley Class destroyers built in the mid-1930s. The box says Gridley Class, which were being built at the same time, but were slightly different. Henley was present at Pearl Harbor, firing some of the first defensive shots of WWII, but was undamaged. Her service life ended in October 1943 off New Guinea by torpedoes from Japanese sub RO-108 with the loss of 15 of her crew. MidShip Models was a brand from the fine folks at Trident Hobbies before they were sold to Free Time Hobbies (which also now has Squadron, Gold Medal Models, True Details, etc.). Sadly, MidShip Models no longer exists, but it seems the molds may still be used for the Blue Ridge Models line. This kit shows the early WWII configuration and USN camouflage scheme. I found only one listing for this kit on eBay (it was opened), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this hard-to-find model: The Free Time Hobbies and Squadron websites no longer show any MidShip Models kits, so I assume they are Discontinued or Out of Production. Scalemates.com shows that this is a 2003 release based on a new tooling of the same year. They have a link to download the concise, full-color 2-page instruction set and painting guide for the original kit (USS Gridley DD-380). There are links to a review and some aftermarket parts, but not much good info about the kit. Timothy Dike published an In-Box Review on the modelwarships.com website with twenty shots of the sprues, instructions and decals. He gives the history of the ship and even of Midship Models itself. He liked the detail and quality of the kit and the outstanding decals. In his Conclusions, he says: “It's good to have a new line of ships on the market. Especially one with so many build options. A lot of thought went into the design of this kit.” This kit is in a compact box about 11” x 5” x 1.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in great condition and still sealed with tape disks, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains highly detailed plastic parts and a sheet of colorful Microscale decals to make a waterline hull model of this early war Bagley-class Destroyer.
